d8+9 – 3wk shakedown
The Weekend:
Saturday has been a mostly overcast and windy day, and we spent the day doing little chores around the house, and doing computer work, reading, researching and relaxing.
Because it’s us – you knew this was going to come up – so here it is!!
There was a small snafu around mid-day when we realised that one of us must have accidentally turned off the freezer under our dining-room table, with our foot, being that we both often use it as a foot rest.
This little freezer is solely for ice.
Water ice and cordial ice – because, yes – there are some comforts we don’t feel we need to be without!! – and by the time we realised the freezer was off, the temperature was hovering around 0°C – so the ice was definitely on its way to no longer being solid!
We managed to rescue quite a bit of it though, and are busily making more ice and will try and get it back to full over the coming days.
Dinner was lasagne.
Sunday – an early morning walk, had our cuppas, fed Mabi and then we got ready to go for a walk to the local markets at Hansen Park.
It was only about a 6 minute walk from our site, and the park was right on the beachfront.
Not a big market by any stretch of the imagination, but we looked around and got the Tall One a bacon and egg roll for breakfast, which we sat in the shade at a table to eat, and then walked around some more.
Mabi met lots of other dogs of all shapes and sizes, and coped amazingly well with all of them.
Her friend and trainer Tracey will be very proud of her – as are we!
She has come ahead in such huge leap and bounds in the last few months, in regards to what was her heightened anxiety around other unknown dogs…
Cruisin’:
After the markets we drove into town to go to IGA (supermarket) for a few supplies, and also to give the sullage tank a good slosh around prior to emptying it when we got back to the park.
We’d popped some dish tabs in the night before to break up any of the sludge that gets stuck to the sensors in the tank, which are then notorious for giving false ‘full tank’ alerts.
After IGA we drove out for a look around Rose Bay, and then for a cruise around Queens Beach, and even managed to find the old SummerGarden Theatre, one of the many places of nights spent singing for the crowds, doing country concerts back in the very early 80’s.
Home to the Park again and the first thing we did once parked was to empty the sullage tank.
And yes – the error on the house control-panel has stopped – for the time being!!
( later: the cleared error lasted about 45mins )
Back it up:
Have we mentioned how bloody brilliant we are at reversing this huge bloody tank of a motorhome?
Between the two of us – the short one outside and the tall one driving – we have managed to get ole Henry into position first time every single time so far!
(also yes – we know we’ve just jinxed ourselves…)
Food:
Another delicious homemade lunch again of corn-crackers, cottage cheese, cold meat, tomato, and vintage cheese.
Scrumptious!
For dinner we had some rissoles with a side of bacon & mushroom rigatoni.
There was even some left over rissole which we’ll have on wraps for lunch tomorrow.
Until next time – happy travels; and make the moments matter.
everything packed away overnight in case it rained
