d19 – 3wk shakedown
Musical beds:
Last night was a bit of a free-for-all when it came to who was sleeping where…
Mabi got the best of it, as she got to swap around to different beds every couple of hours throughout the night, whenever it pleased her to do so.
No shares-ies:
One of the Park workers came over this morning to see how we were doing, and to let us know that the water would be off for an hour or so, at around 10:30 as they had a busted water pipe.
Luckily we had started the laundry early, and it was now on its final cycle in the dryer.
We had a lot of towels to put through after the soaking up of various leaks, and as there was light drizzle once again – the dryer was our only option.
We didnt think the Park worker would be allowed to, but we asked him if we could borrow a ladder so we could check on the roof, but as expected he wasn’t permitted to loan it to us.
He also said that he would offer to help but wasn’t allowed to go up the ladder when it was on our bus.
Fair enough – we had expected that would be the case with liability freak-outs and such these days, so weren’t at all miffed or offended.
We won’t bore you rigid with the blow by blow regaling of how we again rigged up water-catching devices, but they’re sort of working for the time being…
A meal outing:
We had our usual walks along the beach, and decided that instead of going for dinner to the resort tonight, we’d go for lunch.
The idea of schlepping through the dark and rain to go – and return – for dinner just wasn’t something we were looking forward to, however it appeared that the rain was going to hold off for a little while, so off we went for lunch.
Just before lunch we had a trial of the aircon to see if it was ‘rested enough’ and it was!
It hummed into life so we closed up the bus and went off to lunch, hoping to come home to a nice cool bus – but definitely not expecting to!
Lunch was one of the very best steak sandwiches that the Tall One has had in many a year.
She’s a raving fan now, and talking about maybe doing it again tomorrow.
After lunch, we went back to Henry and the aircon was still on!!
Hallelujah!
We started in on doing some chores, including some video editing work, and about an hour into it the aircon again stopped.
We’d got 3hrs and 41 minutes out of it, which is a record in the last three days.
We decided not to try it again, but would hold off until bedtime so that maybe we’d get lucky and be able to have some respite from the humidity while we slept.
For dinner we used up the leftover hamburgers from the night before, and the Short One had some soup.
At bed time we got our seperate beds ready, then at the last minute turned on the aircon and it worked!
So we each jumped into our bed, and snuggled down to sleep.
That lasted 10 whole minutes before the aircon again went silent.
~siggghhh~
Despite the fans, with the bus closed up because of the rain, it was a very humid night for everyone…
Until next time – happy travels, and make the moments matter.
saturated bed – again…
