d15 – 3wk shakedown
Whatever the weather:
Woke up to thunder and rain, with the odd bit of lightening thrown in.
Going walking in the rain for Mabi to poop was a very damp little wander, despite the rain jacket.
We needed to get some laundry done, despite the weather, so off to the laundry trudged the Short One, wading through ankle deep water on the way to and from the washroom.
At least the rain meant that there wasn’t any waiting for a machine!
Bag Lady:
The rain stopped for a while later in the morning, so the Tall One took the ‘old lady trolley’ (which we’ve now christened Gladys) with our empty gas bottle in it, to get it replenished.
On arrival, she found that the swap&go she went to has that same particular bottle – but confusingly – in a range of sizes and shapes.
As you can guess happened, the bottle that came back home had a wanky salt encrusted loose connection, and we ended up taking it back and swapping it out for another one.
We took the opportunity on the trip back to do the swap to go together and grab a few things from the supermarket next door to make some pizza for dinner.
Entertainingly, right after we got back to the Park, we received a text from Reception saying that it was pizza night and that there would be a van parked at reception from 4:30pm onward, making pizzas fresh to order.
We love our own pizzas a lot, so we refrained.
snafus:
We’d been hoping to meet up with an old school friend but with the bus repair fiasco we didn’t end up managing to be in the same place at the same time.
Disappointing – but hopefully we’ll get down to see them next year.
We’d also had visiting our Daughters and Daughter-in-law on our agenda, but again – the screwed up itinerary from spending soooo long in Bowen awaiting repairs, means that we don’t get to have the leisurely trip home visiting folks that we’d planned – so we won’t get to see them this trip either. ~poop!~
Running repairs:
As we’d picked up the awning part yesterday, once the rain stopped and the evening cool came in, we decided to fit the new pieces.
It took a bit of wrangling and working out how it was supposed to be seated in the frame, but we eventually figured it out, and it works like a champ!
We’ve had some lovely little ducks and curlews visiting us while we’ve been here, which has certainly kept Mabi entertained – and we’ve loved watching them too.
Tomorrow we begin the slow drive back up the coast toward home, and the weather bureau has predicted more storms over the coming days, so we’re hoping we can make it through each area before any flooding happens or roads get closed.
Until next time – happy travels; and make the moments matter.
