Running Repairs

The Problem:

We have a set of four hanging pockets just inside the door of Henry (our bus / motorhome) which we love.
They’re a great size, they don’t get in the way of passing in and out of the door, and they hold all the things that we like to have handy like a rain jacket, extra dog leads, power cords, mozzie spray for us and the dogs, pegs etc

After a lot of use though, they started to get saggy as the bit that gives the stability to the pockets was only made out of cardboard, and after a lot of rough use it ended up degrading and bending very out of shape; meaning that the pockets now bulged out and were not only not as good at keeping things contained, but also looked pretty nasty!

Time for us to do some repairs, as we like the setup and didn’t want to trash it and have to some something else that would like suit us less well.

Ideas:

We tossed around some ideas of how to fortify the front of each pocket, and the Tall One came up with the fabulous idea of using a standard wooden school ruler.

So off she went to the local cheapie-shop, and for the grand total of $6.99 got four rulers and a bottle of craft glue.
We already had a pile of bulldog clips which we were going to use to hold the rulers in place while the glue dried.
( we do so love bulldog clips! )

Repairs:

20 minutes and a few sticky fingers later the glue was on, the rulers were in place, and the bulldog clips were doing their job holding it all together.

Results:

A couple of hours later, off came the clips and taaa-daaaa – beautiful fabulous frugal success!

We reckon it’s even better than a new one.
