d13 – 3wk shakedown
A new home:
Yesterday, we were told that we would need to move sites today, as someone had booked our site previously, and they will be arriving sometime through the day, so once we finished breakfast, we disconnected all the amenities and moved down 2 site, to a shadier spot that actually has an even better view.
We were very lucky in that we were told we could pick (pretty much) whichever spot we wanted, and before we even knew that we were going to have to move, we had worked out a few different sites that we would like to pick from next time we come.
Mabi was a bit miffed to leave her lovely hole (nest) under the bus that she has spent the last week and a bit diligently building, but after an hour or so of sulking, she started to make a new nest at the new site.
We’re pretty sure she will also miss all the people going past on the pathway on their way to the loo / laundry / pool, giving her pats and chats so often.
Graciousness + generosity:
Kindness is coming at us from all directions today – and were feeling very warmed by it..
This morning we got a lovely message from our House-Sitter – the marvellous Ms S.
In an incredibly thoughtful offer, she has said she will stay on longer at the Farm if we’d like to extend our holiday once the bus is fixed.
Honestly – we’re overwhelmed with gratitude by this true gentlewomans kindness…
Unfortunately – this trip has a very set timeframe due to work commitments in the lead up to the Christmas hustle; so we aren’t able to extend, but just the offer has made a huge difference to how our hearts feel right now.
As it currently stands, if we run out of time to get the bus fixed, then the Tall One will either fly or get a bus back home, and the Short One will stay on until we can get a slot to get the repairs done.
Not the ideal – but we’d rather do that than just leave Henry (the bus) behind and come back once its fixed; as were just not comfortable with that scenario.
And even more:
Later in the morning, a bloke we had been talking to on Monday and who had been asking us about our mechanical problems (having heard our story from his Wife) came and saw us when he realised we hadn’t left as he’d thought – but had only moved down two sites.
He was very supportive and caring, and offered us the use of himself and his car for us to go shopping, or anywhere else we needed to go.
He came by again later in the afternoon when he was going to town, just to check in on us again., and if we needed anything at the shops.
Heart-warming.
I hope he knows what a difference his kindness has made to us…
Icing:
And the topping on the cake for today has been that when we went to book another night – for tonight – we were again given a break from the Caravan Park, and they offered us another free night.
heart = full
But wait:
Drumrolllllll if you please….
Around 1:30pm we got a call from the Auto Elec saying that the part has arrived in Townsville – a mere 2 hours drive away.
To say we’re excited and relieved is an understatement…
So – now we wait a little more, to not only get the part here, but to be given a time slot at the auto-elec workshop to actually get the work done.
Fingers are not only crossed, they’re now tied in bloody knots!
Until next time – happy travels; and make the moments matter.
