d5 – 3wk shakedown

We’re not expecting to hear anything from Tim – our Auto-Elec today – so we’ve been having another mostly relaxing day.

Breakfast:

We spoilt ourselves by going out for breakfast at the Horseshoe Bay Cafe, which was nice and casual; and the food yummy, and they are dog-friendly so it was a win all round.

Horseshoe Bay Beach however doesn’t allow dogs, so we had to go for a walk around on the grassed area, which was just as lovely.

Touring:

We then went for a drive through town and out to the look out at Flagstaff Hill.
In recent years they’ve built a function / cultural centre up there, but the views are still as wonderful as they were when last up there, over 36 years ago.

Uhoh Again:

Back to the van-park to set back up again, and when we went to put the awning out, the end bracket gave way, and we’ve now realised that the mystery piece of plastic we had found yesterday afternoon on the cement, had actually come from where the arm of the awning attaches and goes into the crossbeam of the awning.

Zippy-ties are in place until we work out where we can get a replacement part (and spares) from.

A quiet afternoon spent doing our individual pursuits – but together.

Missing:

We got a message from our youngest Daughter mid-afternoon saying that her Father-in-Law is missing whilst on a hike in a National Park.

Very scary and our love, thoughts and hopes go out to the entire extended Family for a safe recovery…
So we’re going to leave it here for today.

Until next time – happy travels, and make the moments matter.

Update:
Miracles do happen!! ⭐️
Our son-in-laws Dad was found alive and fairly well just on dark, amd made it home around 11:30pm.
What an absolutely terrifying day for them all.
We’re sooo incredibly relieved for the whole family.
